TAMU Rodeo Bareback - 1

We attended the TAMU Rodeo Team (club) event on Friday 3/8/24. Many college clubs participated. It was a pretty night and the attendance was pretty good. I decided to take my camera just for grins. It has been months since I took any kind of challenging photo. I knew lighting would be tough - nighttime, in an arena, and pretty serious action. This was the first time I had really challenged these conditions with my R5 camera. I can tell you that I remain impressed with its capabilities. I wasn't even sure I still knew how to take such shots but I have many to share in the coming days. Hopefully you don't get bored. I'll try and limit the volume. I have only edited the TAMU participants even though I shot every participant (always free from me). Like so many of these shoots, I have little idea how to get the photos into the hands of anyone that may want them. Yes, I have a name for the rodeo club sponsor and will get some shots to him. Hopefully, somebody will really enjoy the photos. There was a professional photography company down on the floor. One was shooting with a massive flash that probably generated cool photos but he could only capture a couple of shots per participant at best. I set my camera to rapid fire and collected WAY TOO MANY shots in hopes of getting "that" shot. I took 3,680 photos that night. Just downloading and looking at all of them was difficult enough so I have limited my edits so far. These shots are cropped to an 8x10 ratio but there is actually very little cropping past that. These are very high resolution photos. The standard settings used were ISO-12800, f/7.1, and 1/400 - 1/500 sec. The lens was a Canon 100 - 400 mm.

So you want to be a cowboy, you say.....?
