Ft. Knox - Saunders Springs - 01
Happy New Years and best wishes for 2023. We went out (dinner followed by a friend's house) on NYE for the first time since 1977 / 78 where my date, now wife, ate hamburgers after the Texas Bluebonnet Bowl in the Astrodome. Fortunately, we saw no evidence of drunks on the roads.
We had some decent weather one day (chilly but not cold) and took a hike at Saunders Springs in Radcliff, KY (just outside Ft. Knox). It is a small but very pretty park with some nice access. These two shots show the initial trail leading down to the springs. The first shot is looking back and then the second looking forward. The total elevation difference is cited as 200 feet. The leaves were so thick and damp, you had to be a little careful in your step but we all made it safely. I like where we live in College Station but I really miss anything like this within reasonable driving distance. Then I remind myself that the temperatures during this last cold snap were around the 0°F range. BRRRRR!!!!!!
Thanks,
Doug White
