Smith Oaks - 07

We saw a couple of predators around the island. There are likely more today as chicks hatch and fall out of nests. This alligator was very still on the bank. We never saw it move but we did see it HAD moved. This is the initial location just chilling his jaw in the water. Over the 2 hours or so we were there, we saw him in several states of going further and further into the water until just his nose was out of the water. We saw about 4 or 5 progressions into the water yet none of us ever saw him move. They can be stealthy. Overhead, there was a hawk taking a few circles looking for any easy prey. Nature is tough. This wraps up photos from this trip.

Speaking of tough, we received word of an Aggie Band '78 classmate taking a fall Thursday evening and is on life support to be disconnected soon. This man is liked by all. A former Army tanker, investment manager, avid golfer, and just a nice guy. Prayers to his family as they make difficult decisions. Life changes in an instant. Never forget those around you.
