Smith Oaks - 05
These shots are a sequence of an egret returning to the nest - empty handed (beaked?). The two birds (in general, not just this pair) can almost always be seen greeting each other as seen in these photos. You can see them calling each other in all four frames. I call this my "Honey, I'm Home" series. The more creative/cynical of us may wish to add "What took you so long and where is my branch!!!!". The camera really nailed the focus on these shots through some difficult conditions as the bird came in through branches. The feathers, feet, and eyes are all clear. Their control of individual feathers to accomplish flight and landing continues to be my favorite feature.
Thanks,
Doug White
