Smith Oaks - 01
After driving down the Bolivar Peninsula and Anahuac Wildlife Reserve, we met up with the rest of the photographers at Smith Oaks in High Island. The egrets were very busy building their nests. They would head off somewhere and find just the right stick to bring back to the nest (first photo). They seemed to have designated job duties with one finding/transporting the stick and the other placing it into the nest. Sometimes they would come back without a stick as seen in the other two photos today. As much as I like feather detail, watching them walk on air with their feet is also interesting.
Thanks,
Doug White
