2016 High Island - 15
This e-mail wraps up the 2016 High Island trip. Who knows what will be the next subject.
I had to do a double-take on the first photo to decide what was going on. This shot is cropped in and it is a bit more obvious as it is two egrets but you can use your imagination to think what I first saw! The second shot is another view of the nest density. It is truly worth a springtime trip to the facility if you are even slightly interested in nature. And I wrap things up with one last squabble of spoonbills. You can see them using their huge beak in their argument. I think I mentioned it before but these beaks sound like wood blocks slapping against each other. You can also see those huge feet to keep them from sinking deep into mud as they wade and fish. Stare at birds too long and you start seeing dinosaurs and snakes in their lineage.
Thanks,
Doug White
