Ft. Knox - Saunder Springs 02
At the bottom of the trail was a small waterfall from the springs. Most postcard photos of waterfalls are "long" exposure to capture the silky motion of the water. You don't really want to capture droplets in such shots. I chose to not carry a tripod to set this up and decided to stretch the capabilities of motion reduction of the camera and lens (some amazing technology). I'm pretty happy with it. These shots were hand-held with my hand resting on my knees with a 1/6 second exposure. The wider view was 43 mm and the tighter view was 67 mm (the tighter the view, the more sensitive to any camera shake). For those that don't talk camera, these are really tough settings without a tripod. I am pleased with the performance even though I would have liked a bit more motion blur of the water. Fortunately, the wind was calm enough to not create any blur of the foliage with this shutter speed.
