Kodiak 9/23 - Glass Beach 02

Lauren reminded me that the beach from yesterday is Glass Beach - known for its very round sea glass. We all had our bags and picked up some pieces as we walked. Lauren has an amazing collection of sea glass from their time on Kodiak. Glass hunting is a great reason to go walk the beach and Penny (dog) loves it! She will get about belly deep in the surf which is so strange since she hates water via bath or rain. We combed the beach but didn't find anything more than BB sized glass this day. Another couple was on the beach when we arrived. They were in Kodiak specifically to search for sea glass. They were picking up much smaller pieces than what we were. As I get older, I decide whether something on the ground is worth the bend! Here are a few more photos from Glass Beach.

Pretty cool rock outcrop reminding you of the volcanic roots of this island!

A closer view of the barnacles on the lower rocks. You get the idea of just how much the tide moves in this place!

And another view of the ocean and surrounding islands. You can see the bridge from Kodiak to Near Island on the horizon.
