Kodiak 9/20 - Boat 01

After our trip last year, I was really looking forward to taking a boat ride to photo the wildlife. As we left the boat launch and headed into Womens Bay to get around the peninsula, we immediately see a large pod of sea otters in the bay - probably in the range of 50 otters (could not get close enough to photograph the large group). These are big animals and fun to watch - or at least should be. For whatever reason, these guys were tons more skittish than what we saw last year. If a boat is speeding by, they hardly move. If a boat slows down, they swim away and keep a large distance. If the boat stops, the group breaks up and disperses. It was frustrating trying to photo them this year.

Make a break!!! This boat is stopping!

All right, we are further away so we can relax for a second. These fall colors were GREAT - with or without otter cooperation!

Yawning while backstroking.

I'm pretty sure this guy was laughing at me.
