Kodiak - 9/15 - 01

I'm going to start with my photos from our Kodiak trip we just completed. I have not completely sorted through all of them so you may see some variety as my plan is to simply share the photos in date/time order - thus the date in the subject line. The good news is you will see what we saw in the general order we saw it. The bad news is that you may see a few more photos than I normally send on such a trip. To those that look at timestamps inside the photo file, note that I failed to adjust the time on my camera so all photos are 3 hours earlier than those stamps. I'm still looking for an easy / free solution to fix that mistake.

We flew all day on 9/14 so 9/15 was our first opportunity to get out. Josh had a little time flexibility that day so we headed out to the rivers to see what was happening. Our first stop was the bridge over Sargent Creek. It was early, cloudy, and poor light. I fixed as much as I could in the edit but some of these are not calendar-worthy yet still interesting enough to share. The salmon were still in their run which was great for seeing bears. We had surprising luck as there was a sow and three cubs in the creek on this very first stop. This cub was exploring a brush pile on a distant bank.

Mom was in the river with mom getting a bite to eat. The other two cubs were busy watching or exploring in the tall grass.
